Appropriating media from the early 2000s — like truck commercials and country music videos — I edit out the subjects (trucks and country singers) focusing instead on secondary footage used to enhance narrative and add context to film & video, also known as B-roll.
In Country (2024), country music video clips are layered and replayed becoming progressively more pixelated and abstract suggesting cultural breakdown or collapse.
In Everything But the Truck (2023), all images and explicit references to trucks are edited out of a dozen truck commercials.
My moving image practice began in 2010 while I was an art student at UCLA, using my car as a device for producing video. By attaching a flip camera to my red Ford Escort in absurd and improvised ways, I transformed routine drives across Los Angeles into loops, creative flow states, and experiments in image-making.
Over the past decade, my work has evolved toward cultural critique, appropriation, and speculative fiction, employing video editing, digital compositing, and visual effects to examine how images circulate and shape contemporary life.
